Black Gold

This image was taken as part of 'Shrines': a Sky Sport - The Magazine photographic series where New Zealand sporting greats were reacquainted with a significant place in their history. Snell broke Herb Elliott's world record for the mile at Cooks Garden, Whanganui, on 27 January 1962, running it in three minutes and 54.4 seconds on the grass track.
