Helena Brooks was born in London, raised in NZ, and currently makes commercials in the UK. Her second short Nothing Special - a comical tale of a young man struggling to be forgettable - was nominated for best short at the Cannes Film Festival. In between shooting music videos and developing features, Brooks is on the commercials roster for Kiwi company Flying Fish, and Ridley Scott's RSA films.
When I'm working hard, my idea of paradise is doing nothing. When I'm doing nothing, my idea of paradise is working. It's a problem I know.
– Helena Brooks, in a 2008 interview with website Mindfood
