Company director James Wallace has been a patron of painting, music, and cinema. His CV as a producer of short films includes Paul Swadel's Accidents and Cannes success Planet Man. Wallace collaborated with director Peter Wells on AIDS drama A Death in the Family plus their only feature to date, Desperate Remedies. He has also been a solicitor for ex-film exhibitors Kerridge Odeon, and a member of the NZ Film Commission.
One of the singular things about this film is that it is not confined by the kind of naturalistic cinema which has been a New Zealand tradition, especially in portraying our colonial past.
