Jarod Rawiri has played everyone from a Māori Battalion soldier (in Taika Cohen’s acclaimed Tama Tū), to Hone Heke (TV’s Waitangi: What Really Happened) to the sensitive nice guy of his debut movie, 2007‘s Jinx Sister. Having acted in two shorts for Michael Bennett, the 2002 Toi Whakaari graduate was invited to join Auckland ensemble drama Matariki, Bennett’s first movie as director. Rawiri plays a grieving brother.
It's showing the subtle differences between cultures, but also showing subtle truths of people going about living their day-to-day lives.
