Morag Brownlie

Director, Producer

Morag Brownlie has brought her offbeat visual sensibility to short films, multimedia shows and the World of Wearable Art Awards. Her short films Mes Mer and lockdown mood piece Perfect Storm were invited to a line of global festivals. Brownlie has also directed short film Rover, and produced theatrical dance show Birds of Paradise described by Theatreview's Brenda Rae Kidd as "a sumptuous sensory feast". Brownlie studied at Auckland's Performing Arts School (now Unitec) and toured with Tanzanian dance group The Bagamoyo Players. Her decade long contributions to the World of Wearable Arts include choreography and performing.

Brownlie must be our bravest, brightest and zaniest wunderkind, whose imagination and talent weaves spectacular visions of dance, not quite dance, creative film and original music with magical lighting and extravagant costumes. The NZ Herald on Morag Brownlie's multimedia show The Key
