Relda Familton

Presenter

Relda Familton, QSM, began working in radio in 1961. Her first TV experience was three years later, as a weather presenter on Wellington station WNTV-1. In 1967 she joined popular magazine show Town and Around. In the 1980s she became one of the hosts of childrens quiz slot The W Three Show. But Familton was probably best known for her 17 year stint keeping New Zealanders company through "the wee small hours," as host of National Radio's all night programme. In 1995 she won the Bill Toft Memorial Award as Broadcaster of the Year. She died on 12 July of the same year.

I could only do what I did in television because Relda came before me. Paul Holmes
