Crafting Your First Feature

Writing your first feature can be a daunting experience. Where do you start?

Bringing your idea to life on the page can feel clouded by screenwriting theory, and script advice can feel crushing.

Aaron Watson talks to writer/director Rob Sarkies and screenwriter and NZFC development executive Kath Akuhata-Brown to demystify the process with craft tips and advice to help emerging writers identify the strengths and weaknesses of their script.

Dunedin Festival of Film & Television Craft

The New Zealand Writers Guild and Screen Otago presents…

Steve Barr: The Beginner’s Guide to Development
A workshop for all filmmakers.
The development process can be a filmmaker's greatest ally or worst enemy as everyone involved in the developing and production of a film contributes their own skill set in this creative collaborative process.
This session will give you the tools you need to avoid Development Hell. We then put you through an accelerated development simulation that will challenge your storytelling and team-building skills and give you a strong insight into what happens to a script between story concept and film completion.
