Occasional Heartland host Annie Whittle visits Patea, and finds the town in rehearsal for the story of its own life. 10 years in the making, 'Poi E - The Musical' tells the story of Patea's triumphs and tragedies following the closure of the local freezing works in 1982. Whittle talks to the late Dalvanius Prime, who was the writer and producer of the musical and the hit song that it evolved from, and the programme ends with a rousing live version of 'Poi E'.

its sooooo awesome to see patea still holding itself together, this is where i was brought up and it will always be home to me....well done to everyone who put in the time and effort to make this happen.
