On April 10th 1968 the Lyttelton–Wellington ferry Wahine sank at the entrance to Wellington Harbour. 53 people lost their lives. This news piece features extensive aerial footage of the ship after the storm, plus interviews with police, rescuers and the head of the Union Steam Ship Company. Some of the coverage was only seen by South Islanders after a cameraman rushed up into the Southern Alps and filmed a TV set tuned to Wellington - then returned to Christchurch so the footage could be shown.
