Peking Man

Born from four-piece The Corners, Peking Man had major success after siblings Pat and Margaret Urlich joined on vocals. Known for a string of radio-friendly singles including 'Good Luck To You' and 'Lift Your Head Up High', the band topped the Kiwi charts in 1985 with 'Room That Echoes'. The following year they dominated the local Music Awards, including gongs for Best Group, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Album and Single of the Year. Soon Margaret Urlich was moonlighting in all woman ensemble When the Cat's Away. Encouraged to go solo by label CBS, she released her first album in Australia in 1989. She died in August 2022.
