Pretty Girl

Hogsnort Rupert

Synopsis

Captured on a single camera, Wellington band Hogsnort Rupert perform their number one hit 'Pretty Girl'. That their performance is interspersed with Christmas footage rather than anything more appropriate to its subject matter suggests that the item was made for an end-of-year programme acknowledging the song's status as the biggest selling single in New Zealand for 1970 (and winner of that year's Loxene Golden Disc Award). And, of course, it offers a chance for viewers to see Alec Wishart performing his immortal line "Come on, my lover. Give us a kiss."

How well I remember this group. Have been trying to find out where I can download it from but with no joy. Certainly brings smiles all around does this group.

In 1967/8 my family lived in Torrens Tce - just up from Cuba st and these guys lived next dor - we used to bounce our ball on the wall and keep them awake them during the day. And they read war comics. Alec wishart nailed a sign to our wall saying 'du nut drive naills intu ths warl' no shit. R.

Quotes

In Alec Wishart they had everyone’s favourite neighbour, the genial fellow on the block, super friendly, a bit of a card and a barrel of laughs.
