to me that sounds more like the dark ages....the war and the hatred just to steal the mana from us Maori....... it's a story full of hope, sadness and emotions that make you just want to change.

Is this movie out yet on DVD would love to watch it, Tohu is my Great Grandfather's Uncle, he was brought up by Tohu because of his own father been slayed during the musket years of war. And yes it is a apart of history that should never be forgotten, I am so happy I now have a photo of our Koro Tohu, hoping we may find one of our Koro Winiata Tekakahi, he died in 1899, thanks for posting this.

My mother and I watched this last year at the Rialto in Auckland, we are both of Maori descent. I watched with much sadness how a culture, my culture, nz culture was ravaged by a villianised system and it continues today. To all New Zealanders, Maori or non Maori please watch this as this is our history. Watch with objectivity and as one lone pakeha man commented in this film " this is our history and I am so ashamed ". Be a part of the solution, not the problem and watch. Thank you.

HI
Janine

I saw Tatarakihi this evening at the Waiheke cinema..

I was moved and impressed though saddened that my knowledge of the story of Parihaka was so scant.

Thankyou ..

..I remember well meeting and talking on the boat.
