Alice Snedden - Funny As Interview

Funny As Interviews – 2019

A lawyer by trade, Alice Snedden discovered that her passion was performing comedy while living in the United States. In this Funny As interview she discusses a range of topics, including:

  • That she was “really bad” when she first hit the comedy stage with Auckland improv group Snort
  • Performing improv two to three times a night in New York, while living there for a year
  • Landing her first writing job on Funny Girls, and later becoming head writer on both Funny Girls and Jono and Ben
  • Loving how improv is like “meditation” — her mind clears, and she just focuses on who’s on stage with her
  • Working with comedian Rose Matafeo on various projects, including podcast Boners of the Heart
This interview was recorded for 2019 TV series Funny As: The Story of New Zealand Comedy. All audiovisual content is copyright to Augusto, and may not be reproduced. Publication of Funny As extended interviews made possible with funding from the NZ Lotteries Grants Board.
