Interview – 2019

Julian Arahanga shot to fame playing novice gang member Nig Heke in Once Were Warriors. In this ScreenTalk Short Arahanga talks about making his screen debut at age 11, on his father Larry Parr's short film The Makutu on Mrs Jones. He also mentions training for some of the tougher scenes of Once Were Warriors, acting in the sequel, and the pressures of starring in movie romance Broken English. Arahanga went on to set up production company Awa Films, and he describes the challenges of making music in prisons series Songs from the Inside
