Two Hearts - Funny As Interview

Funny As Interviews – 2019

Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore were both Billy T nominated comedians before they started performing together as musical comedy duo Two Hearts. In this interview they cover many topics, including:

  • How they met and began working together, via TV show Jono and Ben and comedy improv group Snort
  • The unusual technical requirements of musical comedy — like having to present comedy as a finished product from the start, and needing far more preparation than just jumping on stage
  • The creation of, and audience reception to, songs like ‘Palmerston North’, ‘Slutty Ghost’, and ‘Alan Rickman’
  • Joseph talks about acting with David McPhail on TV series Seven Periods With Mr Gormsby as a teen
  • How they both loved Flight Of The Conchords growing up — Laura played their songs in the school talent quest, only to be beaten out by her other, group acts; Joseph formed a musical folk comedy duo with Nic Sampson
  • The difficulty of starting to date each other when they already spent all their time together as a comedy duo
