Belinda Schmid

While studying film in the 90s, Belinda Schmid spent a year in the directing programme at the prestigous American Film Institute. Back home in New Zealand, she worked behind the scenes on a range of productions, and in 2000 directed short film The Painted Lady. It was invited to multiple festivals and nominated for Best Short at the 2000 NZ Film Awards. Based these days in New York, Schmid and partner David Welch collaborated to make The Book of Conrad, a feature documentary on American poet CA Conrad.
