Dylan Pharazyn

Director

Hawke's Bay-raised Dylan Pharazyn has shown his knack for arresting imagery and visual effects in commercials and music videos (including a number for band Die! Die! Die!). In 2009 he directed short film Vostok Station, which followed a man wandering through snow-flecked apocalyptic scenes. It was invited to multiple festivals, including Sundance. Next came period lighthouse tale The Keeper (2013). Pharazyn studied painting and design at Auckland's Elam School of Fine Arts, and has worked extensively in digital animation. He has also done graphic design, and directed many commercials for company The Sweet Shop.

I guess the plan was to try and break the mold a bit with the traditional short film format. Dylan Pharazyn on Vostok Station, Campaign Brief website, 21 January 2010
