Nesian Mystik - For the People

Television (Excerpts) – 2005

For the People charts the journey of Auckland hip hop band Nesian Mystik, from early days playing together at Western Springs College, to gold albums and packed shows in Australia and the Pacific. Director Makerita Urale captures the band in Aotearoa, London and Tonga, and uses the multicultural roots of the band to reflect the wider picture of Māori, Pacific Island and Pākehā society in New Zealand. In the excerpts, Nesian Mystik open for Robbie Williams and talk about the upsides of fame; and Che Fu, Dave Dobbyn and a former high school teacher all pay tribute.

Anyone can write a tune, and anyone can do music; it's the X factor to me that becomes prevalent, and in the end is the difference between being an okay band and being a great band.
– Che Fu on Nesian Mystik
