Scots-born Erik Thomson, star of Australian TV hit Packed to the Rafters, moved to NZ at the age of seven. In the 90s he began juggling roles on screen and stage, but his career really took off after he began acting in Australia in the mid 90s. Thomson won an AFI award for 2004 feature Somersault. He later returned to New Zealand to star as a man alone vs the tax department in drama/comedy We're Here to Help.
As much as I was born in Scotland, most of my childhood was spent in New Zealand, so it's my spiritual home if nothing else. All my memories of my childhood and my early adult life are in New Zealand. It's just the way it is.
– Erik Thomson
