This classic 70s series saw director Roger Donaldson follow Sir Edmund Hillary on several missions into the wild. The Kaipo Wall sees Sir Ed lead an A-Team of mates (including Graeme Dingle and 19-year-old son Peter) on an expedition to ascend for the first time Fiordland's remote Kaipo Wall: 1000m of sheer rockface. The journey sees them tackle Hollyford's then-unrafted white water rapids, extreme mountaineering, dense bush and whiteout blizzards, as well as building a DIY yacht with a tent fly. Awesome cinematography captures the old school thrill of adventure.
