The Games Affair

Television, 1974

Set amidst the 'friendly' 1974 Commonwealth Games, The Games Affair was a fantasy series for children. The story involves a dodgy professor who experiments on athletes with performance enhancing drugs. Alongside the show's three teenage heroes, the series featured jumping sheep, actor Elizabeth McRae (Shortland Street) and John Bach (Duggan) as a grunting villain. New Zealand's first independently produced long-form drama, it marked an early credit for producer John Barnett and a number of other emerging screen talents.
