The Body Electric

Pioneers of early Kiwi electronica, The Body Electric formed from the remnants of punk band The Steroids. The Wellingtonians became one of the first electro-dance acts to succeed on alternative radio. Their debut single 'Pulsing' spent four months in the Top 50. It helped lay the foundations for an explosion in the Kiwi mid-1980s club scene, but the group didn't hang around to see the era through  they disbanded after one album, Presentation and Reality (1983). Alan Jansson went on to produce music, playing a big hand in the creation of OMC's mega-hit 'How Bizarre'. Garry Smith has gone on to manage concerts for the NZ Symphony Orchestra.
