Charlie ASH

Wellington based electro-synth rockers Charlie ASH were formed around the duo of Christchurch born bassist/keytar player Mailee Matthews and Whangarei born vocalist Rosie Rigger. Matthews and Rigger moved to Wellington in 2004 where they recruited members Jean Pompey, Dave Prendergast and Benny O. Charlie ASH debuted on the New Zealand music scene with their saucy synth-humping turbo-pop fuelled EP Can Can (2007). With a love for lavish costumes and theatrical stage shows, the kooky quartet toured Europe and played support gigs for international acts including Juliette Lewis and The Licks.
