Giving the cooking competition format a community focus, Marae Kai Masters saw teams from across the motu (country) compete in culinary challenges for their local marae. With prizes like an industrial oven and foldable chairs, the series aimed to uplift marae and their talented cooks, who cater to hundreds for huis, tangis and other gatherings. Hosted by Te Kohe Tuhaka and Nevak Rogers, the first two seasons were made by Tūmanako Productions, while season three was made by 2B Media and hosted by Tuhaka and chef Robert Oliver (Real Pasifika). Made for Māori Television, the show went off air in 2016.
