This TV special is a family affair for Samoan/Kiwi jazz singer Mavis Rivers, who delivers a sparkling list of jazz standards with son Matt Catingub and his quintet. In-between songs Mavis talks to Ray Harris about her musical childhood, her early recordings and her determination to work in the United States, the "home of jazz". Popular family trio The Yandall Sisters perform a few numbers and join Rivers on classic track 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore'. Later Rivers and the Yandalls pay tribute to their shared Samoan heritage with a heartfelt 'Samoan Farewell'.
Been invited on dates, could have gone but what for, awfully different without you, don't get around much anymore...– Lyrics from Duke Ellington's 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore'
