Something to Look Forward to

Television, 1976

Something to Look Forward to is a forgotten part of Kiwi comedy history, sitting between Aotearoa's first sketch show (1969's In View of the Circumstances) and breakthrough hit A Week of It (1977). Actor/presenter Derek Payne and A Week of It's David McPhail wrote and acted in seven half-hour episodes. The often absurd sketches included a male marching team and a Mormon gun. Marcus Craig (Diamond Lil), Alistair Douglas and cartoonist Peter Bromhead  helped play the 300+ characters. Ex Goon Michael Bentine was a fan.
