Ian Hughes' breakthrough role was in acclaimed TV series and movie Topless Women Talk About Their Lives. He played a loony writer whose script involves topless women standing in kitchens and garages ... talking about their lives. Topless was followed by multiple TV guest parts (Shortland Street, Xena, Hercules) and short film roles, including starring in his own Kafkaesque short, The Waiting Room.
You just have to do it. I’m a strong believer that every time an actor says, ‘I don’t believe my character would do that’, it’s just them going, ‘I don’t want to do it!’
– Ian Hughes
