Celebrated actor Jennifer Ward-Lealand's first love is the theatre, but she has appeared in dozens of films and TV shows since the early 1980s - including early soap Close to Home, big-screen melodrama Desperate Remedies, ensemble drama Fracture, and Xena: Warrior Princess. Her contribution to New Zealand theatre was recognised in 2006 with her investiture as officer to the NZ Order of Merit.
Ms Ward-Lealand looks and acts like a cross between Greta Garbo in Queen Christina and Catherine Deneuve.
– New York Times reviewer Stephen Holden, on Desperate Remedies
