Synopsis

Blokes 'n' Sheds is a documentary where you'll find the content is exactly as titled: a tour of selected New Zealand blokes in their sheds, with the affable Jim Hopkins as tour guide. Based on Hopkins' best-selling book Blokes and Sheds (1998) the television version was made with the direct uncomplicated style that is a hallmark of Dunedin's Taylormade Productions. The contents of the sheds in question include vintage cars, oversize traction engines, a self-designed plane, and an old paddle-boat from the Whanganui River.

Impressive doco,I have recently renovated my shed as a tribute to burt munroe, and as I own a backpackers here in Invercargill, guests have started taking photos of my shed,so I suppose we are going global with it.My. shed is still in the evolving stage as I come up with new ideas etc, however I do have props from the movie that was made in burts honour "the worlds fastest Indian" starring sir anthony hopkins filmed in and around Invercargill.I gained inspiration from the movie to step out into the unknown and set up a backpackers in Invercargill,at the time there was 3 others operating. We have achieved a 98% hostelworld rating (reviews by previous guests that have stayed) and continue to put Quote "In-ver-car-gill on the map as burt would say.so if anyone out there is interested in viewing the shed and or staying at my backpackers go to my website address www.sparkysbackpackers.co.nz photos of my tribute to the shed have recently been added or to book to stay at sparkys go to www.hostelworld.com Who knows maybe another doco or book might be done and my shed just may be in it,cheers sparky 271 tay st IN-VER-CAR-GILL
