In the Neighbourhood

Sisters Underground

Synopsis

Greg Semu was offered the first ever residency at the Musée du quai Branly, Paris in 2006. Over a decade earlier, his first solo exhibition was on display at Auckland Art Gallery, and he was directing a music video for Sisters Underground. Set on the Mangere Bridge and in the South Auckland neighbourhood, his clip exudes a warmth and serenity that seems to belie its often dilapidated setting. These days Semu's works are held in private and public collections in Germany, France, Australia and NZ.
