Mark Richardson

Presenter

As co-host of cult sports show The Crowd Goes Wild, Mark Richardson gained a reputation for his wry and candid commentary. Richardson was no armchair commentator; he retired from the Black Caps cricket team in 2004, after time as an opening batsman. After commentating test matches on Sky Sport and radio, he joined Andrew Mulligan on The Crowd Goes Wild. In 2012 Richardson started hosting TV3's hit DIY show The Block, with viewers twice voting him Best Presenter at the TV Guide Best on the Box Awards. In 2017 he began a high profile five-year run on Three’s The AM Show, alongside Duncan Garner and Amanda Gillies.

This has been a dream job for me in so many ways — I have experienced news and current affairs broadcasting from the best seat in the house, even getting to play a few shots myself every now and again. Mark Richardson on leaving The AM Show after five years, Newshub website, 22 September 2021
