Dianne Taylor's travels on the Asia Overland trail have inspired some of her scripts, including 2017 Indian-Kiwi co-production Beyond the Known World. This movie about a divorced couple searching India for a missing daughter features Sia Trokenheim (Step Dave), Australian David Wenham, and French star Emmanuelle Béart. Taylor went on to win awards after creating acclaimed drama mystery After the Party with the show's star, Robyn Malcolm. Earlier she was nominated for a 2009 Qantas award for co-writing cross-cultural drama Apron Strings, and spent four years chairing the board of Kiwi screenwriting organisation Script to Screen.

You’ve got to savour those as a writer, because you’re mostly working alone with just the characters in your head for company.”
