Beauty Queens

This Spotlight collection offers high stakes drama, beautiful women in beautiful gowns, and the occasional shocking reminder that yesterday's fashions can be tomorrow's fashion crimes. Contestants for the title of Miss New Zealand chart the changing face of beauty contests over 50 years, from the recollections of a woman who won back in the 20s (Town Cryer) to full-length pageants from 1973 and 1984. The Spotlight also includes excerpts from TV's Miss Popularity, in which contestants compete in the Australian outback to show they are worthy of the title "ultimate Kiwi chick".
