New Zealand's art world in the 1980s is a male-dominated space: this documentary series shines a light on the key figures and conversations of the small female contingent. Made in 1984, the six-part series — produced by Jillian Ewart — first played as part of the long-running arts show Kaleidoscope, before airing two years later under the name Art From Under. Documentarian Katherine Findlay both directs and is the on-screen reporter, conducting many interviews with artists, academics and curators. A vast number of women artists feature, with a deeper look at the work of Jacqueline Fahey and Emily Karaka.
