This is a story which comes from growing up in a place that I found very confronting and harsh. I spent most of my childhood in the country and when my family moved to the city I found it very hard to adjust. We moved to the south of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. South Auckland is populated mostly by Māori and Pacific islands peoples. Many struggle to survive and we were no different. Alcohol and drug abuse is wide spread and with Mum and Dad never home I slowly adapted to my environment. This is a story about how I am trying to deal with that part of my life.
