Benee's dreamy smash hit 'Glitter' is accompanied by this equally playful music video. Mirroring her lyrics of being on a strange journey with a trusted companion, Benee explores a series of whimsical settings with a small monster — an alien forest, a spaceship, a glitter-filled slide... to name a few! Utilising a number of different mediums, director/animator Steven Mertens mixed live action with digital animation, stop-motion animation, pencil drawings, sculpture and photography to create the video's unusual look. 'Glitter' went five times platinum in New Zealand in 2019, and three times platinum in Australia.
The process of coming up with a treatment flowed very easily, as I envisioned an animated dream world for Benee to inhabit along with a monster sidekick and as many bizarre characters as I could cram into the span of three minutes.– Director and animator Steven Mertens, on website Amnplify, 19 September 2019
