Since 2015, Hahana has set out to normalise te reo Māori through fun and uplifting content, made by rangatahi for rangitahi. Designed for social media, Hahana reaches audiences across Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram with a smorgasbord of video content. Each episode showcases the creativity of young Māori, with humour, interviews, education and language. Produced by Whanganui-based company Blackout Media, it was one of the first web series to receive funding from Te Māngai Pāho. The series’ success saw 20 episodes commissioned for Māori Television in 2016.
