Intergenerational warfare, meddling aunts, restless teens, affairs, abortions and regret replace sausage rolls on the menu in Home Movie. A christening becomes the catalyst for a family unravelling at the seams. Fiona Samuel’s sharp script and the cast’s finely tuned performances spare no detail of domestic chaos. Written and directed by Samuel, the drama was based on a short story from Fiona Farrell's The Rock Garden. It aired as part of TV One's Montana Sunday Drama series, going on to win Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best TV Drama at the 1998 NZ Television Awards. Samuel writes about the making of Home Movie here.
