Singer Annie Crummer is no stranger to travel, but she switches it up by travelling backpacking style for this Intrepid Journey. Her Polynesian heritage inspires a unique appreciation for Peru’s street party music, Catholic foundations, and humble, hard-working ways. In the Amazon jungle, Crummer encounters piranhas and conquers a fear of spiders. She tries Peruvian food, including guinea pig. Despite sampling coca leaves, from which cocaine is extracted, she still struggles with altitude sickness on a hike up to 4500 metres above sea level. At an isolated homestay, hard work and good company remind her of home.
I love the world! Goddammit, I'm gonna get out there and check it out!– Annie Crummer, at the start of this episode
