Make the Politician Work

Television, 2011

Make The Politician Work did exactly what it says on the packet, putting local MPs into the often strenuous jobs of everyday Kiwis! Filmed in 2011 during John Key's time as Prime Minister, the series often placed politicians in roles related to their portfolios. The seven episode series included Rodney Hide as a teacher aide (Associate Minister of Education), Shane Jones on a fishing boat (Minister for Oceans and Fisheries), and Paula Bennett at a City Mission (Minister of Social Development and Employment). The format of the show originated in Canada and ran in Aotearoa for one season, produced by Great Southern Television.
