Mercy Peak - First Episode (excerpt)

Television (Excerpts) – 2001

Featuring an impressive cast (including Jeffrey Thomas, Craig Parker and Tim Balme), award-winning 'seachange' series Mercy Peak hit the right note with its down-home sincerity and quirky but complex characters. In this excerpt from first episode 'What She Least Expected', Doctor Nicky Somerville (Sara Wiseman) discovers the cheating ways of her partner (a deliciously oily Simon Prast) and decides it's time to start over. En route to finding her bliss with a new job in the town of Bassett, she has an inauspicious beginning: a collision with the town's iconic pig sign.

In just 60 episodes, Mercy Peak was a fully realised world in a small town ... its strengths were the subtle interplay of characters' lives and themes combined with careful and clever scripts.
