New Zealand Today

Television, 2019

After seven years co-hosting Jono and Ben, comedian Guy Williams expanded the show's New Zealand Today segment into its own series. The 'volunteer journalist' tackles the big stories, meeting Kiwis who've hit the headlines in towns like Whanganui (where a coffin is stolen) and Invercargill (hit by several cases of "code brown" at its public pool). The eight-part show won positive reviews and high ratings on Three, but failed to get a second series; then in July 2020 co-creator Williams got development funding for another season.
