Keen on hip hop during high school, Randa began rapping at 16 and started making his own beats two years later. Quickly gaining attention online in New Zealand alternative music circles, Randa (aka Mainard Larkin) soon began performing. Within the year he'd managed to secure opening slots for acclaimed international acts Grimes and Crystal Castles. In 2014 the transgender artist took home the Critic’s Choice Prize at the Vodafone NZ Music Awards. As of November 2019, Randa had released three EPs alongside a clutch of singles.
