Television, 2001

In 2000 Team New Zealand successfully defended the America’s Cup for the first time in Auckland, and national interest in sailing was at a peak. The following year Sailnz TV launched as a weekly series covering the sport. The show also served to drum up interest in Team New Zealand's next America's Cup defence in 2003: it was a regular fixture, with updates on the team and their challengers. Sailnz TV also covered the death of one of New Zealand’s greatest sailors: Sir Peter Blake, who was killed in December 2001.
