Made by independent production company Pacific Films, Shoreline aired on TV1 in 1978. A magazine-style show centering around the ocean, it was described by Gaylene Preston, one of its makers, as "a Country Calendar of the sea". Unfortunately, thanks partly to being scheduled in the early evening at the height of summer, the ratings suffered; the series was not renewed for a second season. Produced by John O'Shea, the series also marked one of the earliest professional directing assignments for Gaylene Preston.
