Since graduating from Australian acting school, NIDA in 1995, Brit-born Charles Mesure has worked largely in NZ TV. An early screen role in City Life earned him a nomination for best actor at the NZ TV Awards; and playing Detective Kees Van Dam in Street Legal won him a best supporting actor award. Mesure's recent work includes roles on Outrageous Fortune, This is Not My Life and US sci-fi series V.
I guess I’m getting to a certain age where there’s a gruff, authoritative kind of thing that I can do quite well.
– Charles Mesure, in a 2005 Listener interview
