Two of Louis Sutherland’s short film collaborations with director Mark Albiston have been invited to Cannes: 2007 family drama Run, which Sutherland wrote and acts in, and The Six Dollar Fifty Man, which Albiston and Sutherland co-directed; both films won special mentions. His acting roles include two-timing travel writer Marty on The Insiders Guide to Love, and pliable Mr Hakanui in Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby.
It’s a great moment when you get sucked into the gravitational pull of the world’s biggest film festival ... to find out our little tales from our wild-west coast can bat with the best international offerings.
– Sutherland in Take magazine, on attending Cannes Film Festival
