Fat Freddys Drop worked up a reputation for intense live gigs (captured on EP Live at The Matterhorn and in the revivalist dub-march of 'Hope') before dropping debut album Based On A True Story in 2005. It became the first independent album to hit No.1, won Album of the Year and Best Group at that year's music awards, and Worldwide Album of the Year on Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio 1 show. Soul-pop tracks like 'Wandering Eye' and dizzying sales of 120,000+ saw them anointed flagbearers of the 'Wellington Sound'. Cooking up more jazz-reggae-roots beats fusion, Dr Boondigga And The Big BW followed in 2009.
