The doddery and delightful couple Beattie (Ann Simpson) and Wally Woolly (Tony Wahren), make their screen debut in this very first season of Woolly Valley. The rustic puppets were made by the real-life couple Jan and Dennis Howell in Christchurch, under the helm of director Kim Gabara. Across the short thirteen episodes, Beattie and Wally contend with the gentle day to day tasks of maintaining their rural cottage. There's fruit-picking, cake-making, wood-chopping and other cosy activities — featuring their young hippy friend Tussock (Russell Smith) and ewe Ewnice (Sara Jones).
