Auckland-based actor Elz Carrad landed the lead role of award-winning drama Rūrangi on his third ever audition; his authentic portrayal of a trans man returning to his small Kiwi hometown earnt praise from both critics and his community alike. Next was a small but pivotal role as Tom in acclaimed Robyn Malcolm series After the Party, which won Carrad Best Supporting Actor at the 2024 NZ Television Awards. Outside of drama, he has acted in comedies (Creamerie), mysteries (The Brokenwood Mysteries), and horror (Nest). Elz Carrad is also a trained vocalist, who has previously worked as a back-up singer.
